Camp LuWiSoMo is dedicated to providing faith-growing opportunities in a Christ-centered outdoor ministry setting for all ages to refresh the whole person through the blessings of people, facilities, and God’s Word. To assist in accomplishing this mission, the philosophy of Camp LuWiSoMo defines the character of the camp community, stating behaviors, attitudes, and standards which campers and staff are expected to display and uphold.

Camp LuWiSoMo is committed to Service. Serving others is more important than serving self. Jesus said, "If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all." Mark 9:35 Jesus demonstrates service to the Apostles in John 13 when He washes their feet, which forms an acronym for our remaining philosophies.

Camp LuWiSoMo promotes a Work ethic. Mankind is to be a steward of his skills and time through fruitful labor; and a thankful heart results. "...[W]hen God...enables [man] to accept his lot and be happy in his work, this is a gift of God." Ecclesiastes 5:19

Camp LuWiSoMo is an Affirming environment. Individuals intentionally recognize positive qualities in others, and negative comments directed at others are not tolerated. "But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips...[A]s God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." Colossians 3:8,12

Camp LuWiSoMo demonstrates a lifestyle of Simplicity and purity to get back to the basics and focus on God; discernment is practiced regarding music, videos, books, magazines, and dress. "Be still and know that I am God..." Psalm 46:10 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." Matthew 6:33 "Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is right, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things." Philippians 4:8

Camp LuWiSoMo advocates Healthful living for physical well-being, including proper nutrition, recreation, and rest. "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit...You are not your own...Therefore honor God with your body." I Corinthians 6:19-20

Camp LuWiSoMo is committed to Excellence. Every endeavor is to be pursued with enthusiasm and foremost effort for the glory of God. "For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10

Camp LuWiSoMo is committed to the Study of Scripture for learning and Christian growth. "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." II Timothy 3:16-17
